If you’re a homeowner, you know how hard it is to keep your home clean. There is dirt and dust and pet hair everywhere. Putting in a day’s work of cleaning is a tough job. It takes a lot of time and energy to clean a house! And, if you don’t have a spouse or children to help pitch in, it can sometimes feel overwhelming trying to get it all done by yourself. Skip the Bucket
Rather than lugging a big heavy bucket around with water in it, have you tried using a spray bottle full of water and soap instead? This can save on time and energy! You can use a spray bottle to spray your floors and mop it up afterwards. Just be sure not to add too much soap, or else trying to get all of the soap out of your floors is going to be more difficult than cleaning them!
Try a Soap Dispenser Dish Sponge
Rather than getting the dish soap out every time you want to wash a quick dish, why not invest in a soap dispenser or a dish sponge? These handy little devices can make washing dishes so much easier! And they are great for washing those hard-to-reach places like at the bottom of cups and glasses where your wrist and arm might not fit. Not to mention, your hands won’t get pruny and wrinkly from being wet. These sponges really are next level!
Clean Your Toilet With Coke
Did you know that the refreshing taste of Coca-Cola does more than just quench your thirst? It can also make your toilet sparkle and shine without the work of scrubbing! Pour the Coke along the edges of your toilet bowl, then leave it in overnight. The next morning, flush the toilet and voila! Your toilet will look as good as new! Who knew it could be that easy. Because Coca Cola is so acidic, it’s great for tough stains and can even help to dissolve rust! Give it a try!
Use a Toothbrush for Cracks
You may have already tried this hack, or never even thought to do so. Either way, it can really make getting small areas a lot cleaner than you would have without a brush. Next time you trade in your toothbrush for a new one, keep the old one to try this out. Squirt a little bit of soap onto the brush and use it in hard-to-reach places such as tile grout, around your sink, the backs of toilets, or anywhere else that is difficult to get to. Once you start using it, you will never look back! Want to up the ante? Try out an electric toothbrush and really let is scrub away at the dirt! Use Tongs to Clean Blinds
Here’s something you may not have thought of! Try attaching a cloth or paper towel to your kitchen tongs and then using your new tool to clean the dust off of your blinds! Microfibre is also a great material for gathering dust that can easily be attached to your tongs. If you have Swiffer pads, they are also great for dust. The nice thing about this hack is that you can clean both the top and bottom of your blinds without your hands getting dusty or without getting a cut on your fingers from the blind blades.
Try Canned Air" to Clean an Exhaust Fan
Your exhaust fan in your bathroom might be something that often gets overlooked. Because of this, these fans can get a huge build-up of dirt and dust and can even cause them to not work properly. Not to worry, there is an easy way to clean these fans that doesn’t require a lot of work! Simply blow out any dust using a canned air aerosol spray. Be sure to have your vacuum nearby to quickly clean up any dust that may have landed on the floor during the process.
Clean Your Dishwasher with Kool-Aid
Oh ya! Much like Coca-Cola, the citric acid in powdered Lemonade Kool-Aid is strong enough to lift stains right out of your dishwasher! Be sure to use powdered Kool-Aid and make sure it is the Lemonade flavour. Pour a packet of this citrusy powder into your empty dishwasher detergent area and run your dishwasher on a normal cycle. You may still notice a few grimy stains once the dishwasher has run, but if you take a damp cloth to the interior of your dishwasher and give it a quick wipe, you will notice how those lime deposits and rust spots will just rub right off! No scrubbing required!
Polish Leather Shoes with a Banana
If you don’t have shoe polish on hand, did you know that you can use a banana peel for a quick fix on your leather shoes? This fruit hack is great for travel or business trips when you may not have shoe polish in your luggage, but you still want your shoes to shine! As you probably know, bananas are rich in potassium, which also happens to be a primary ingredient in shoe polish! Rubbing a banana peel on scuffed-up boots and shoes is sure to give them new life. Be sure to rub the inside of the peel on the shoes and then wipe the shoes clean afterwards with a cloth. Check out all the dirt that came off, pretty cool, huh!
Remove Burnt Food Easily
There are actually a few ways to get the pesky burnt food off of the inside of your pots and pans. The first one is a trick you have probably heard of… mixing vinegar and baking soda. Pour a layer of equal parts water and white vinegar and bring to a boil. After it boils for a minute, remove from heat and pour the mixture into the sink. Add a tablespoon of baking soda into your pan. It is abrasive and will help lift the stain. Use a scouring pad or sponge to easily wipe away the burnt stains. There are a few more lesser-known hacks for removing burnt food such as salt, cream of tartar, a dryer sheet, soda, Alka Seltzer, and even ketchup!
