Why Should You Move to Kanata?
If you’ve landed on this page, you must be either thinking about moving to Kanata or needing a bit of reassurance on why you moved to Kanata in the first place. Kanata is a beautiful suburban paradise, close to downtown Ottawa and a great place for your children to grow up. The neighbourhoods are safe and there is lots of entertainment and restaurants. You may never even feel the need to go downtown when you live in Kanata! But if you do want to make your way into the city, it’s only a short 20-minute drive down the 417 highway. Kanata is one of the biggest suburbs in the Ottawa area. This large area has a fast-growing population which has reached over 90,000 people in a short amount of time. The population is mostly due to Kanata’s high tech centre which houses many major technology employers of Ottawa. Industries such as Nokia, Ericsson, Dell and countless start-up companies all with booming possibilities. There are plenty of grocery stores, restaurants and retail shops, you won’t get bored living in Kanata! As mentioned above, Kanata is a great location if you are looking for something close to the city. It is only a 15-20 minute drive into the city or a half-hour bus ride. If you are looking to escape the city, you are close to beautiful towns in the Ottawa Valley such as Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and more! Kanata is conveniently situated beside the 417 highway, making transportation quick and easy. You are also very close to highway 7, so making a drive to the GTA is also effortless. There are many major bus routes in Kanata as well, so getting around is easy even if you don’t have a vehicle!
Lots of Shopping
If retail therapy is something you need, look no further than the shops that Kanata has to offer! Christmas shopping has never been easier with this abundance of options! Some of the larger stores include Wal Mart, Costco, Cabela’s, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Chapters, Winners, HomeSense, Michaels just to name a few! As if that wasn’t enough, there are also 70+ stores at Tanger Outlet! There are also lots of great grocery stores including Loblaws, Sobeys, Food Basic, Farm Boy, Metro and more!
Abundance of Entertainment
You won’t be bored when you move to Kanata! You have Landmark Cinema, Canadian Tire Centre, XTreme Trampoline, Kid’s Kingdom, Kanata Golf & Country Club, The Marshes Golf, Unlocked Ottawa and so many more fun things to do whenever you want! Check out the great restaurants that Centrum has to offer including: Bâton Rouge, Milestones, 3 Brewers, Moxie’s Jack Astor’s, Crazy Horse, Via Cibo, Pure Kitchen and so many more! Hazeldean and March Road also offer a ton of restaurants. From upscale fine dining at the Brookstreet Hotel to small delicious diners like Zak’s, you will find the perfect meal for you and your family in Kanata. If you get tired of Kanata’s restaurants, you can always take a short drive into Stittsville to one of their restaurants instead!
Plenty of Greenspace
Another great reason to move to Kanata is the parks and trails! There is lots of greenspace in the Kanata area so you won’t feel surrounded by concrete like some neighbourhoods.
