Kemptville is a growing village located approximately 50 km south of Ottawa. The population was just shy of 4,000 in 2016. The population of Kemptville has been steadily growing over the last few years. Ever since the Wal Mart plaza on Colonnade Drive was introduced, people have been flowing into the growing town. In 2015, Glenview Homes created the Tempo subdivision which included 152 new homes. Urbandale Construction is currently building a new subdivision called The Creek which will feature numerous singles, bungalows and townhomes. With easy access to Highway 416, new residents are choosing to move to Kemptville who can commute into Ottawa if they need to.
Kemptville has an abundance of great food and drinks to go around! From fast food to gourmet meals, there are good eats for everyone in this town! A few notable restaurants include Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill, JJ’s Shawarma, Nakhon Thai, Kemptville Family Restaurant, Hard Stones Grill, Sam`s Pizzeria, Fast Eddie’s Diner, South Branch Bistro, Salamanders and Bubba & Bugs Coffee Bar. Due to COVID-19, the Kemptville Live Music Festival has been cancelled for 2021, but the show will go on in 2022! This awesome music festival was created in 2013 and has had strong rock lineups over the last 7 years. A few big names that have played at the festival have included David Wilcox, Kim Mitchell, Steve Earle, George Thorogood, April Wine, Dwight Yoakam, Blue Rodeo and Jann Arden. The names that are set to hit the stage in 2022 include Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings, Glass Tiger and Honeymoon Suite. Like most small towns in Ontario, Kemptville has a great sense of community. When you go to the grocery store, you are more likely to run into someone you know. People stop and say hello when walking by and your neighbours care about you. The community puts on events such as the annual Santa Clause Parade and the locals like to support each other. It is a slower pace living in a small town, and if you are coming from the city, it may take some getting used to. People aren’t as rushed and enjoy taking it slow.
