Why You Should Move to Kemptville
Kemptville is a growing village located approximately 50 km south of Ottawa. The population was just shy of 4,000 in 2016. More and more homes are being built in Kemptville year after year and the population is steadily growing. This small town has everything you need including Wal Mart, Canadian Tire, fast food restaurants (even Starbucks!), restaurants, shops and more! The town is located just off of Highway 416 making travelling a breeze. The Rideau River is a short drive away and the Kemptville Creek flows right through the town. There are schools, banks, an LCBO & Beer Store, parks and even a hospital within the town. Growing Community
The population of Kemptville has been steadily growing over the last few years. Ever since the Wal Mart plaza on Colonnade Drive was introduced, people have been flowing into the growing town. In 2015, Glenview Homes created the Tempo subdivision which included 152 new homes. Urbandale Construction is currently building a new subdivision called The Creek which will feature numerous singles, bungalows and townhomes. With easy access to Highway 416, new residents are choosing to move to Kemptville who can commute into Ottawa if they need to.
Restaurants
Kemptville has an abundance of great food and drinks to go around! From fast food to gourmet meals, there are good eats for everyone in this town! A few notable restaurants include Shoeless Joe’s Sports Grill, JJ’s Shawarma, Nakhon Thai, Kemptville Family Restaurant, Hard Stones Grill, Sam`s Pizzeria, Fast Eddie’s Diner, South Branch Bistro, Salamanders and Bubba & Bugs Coffee Bar. There are also some awesome food trucks including The Station, Fat Les’s Chip Stand, Chip Chop Fresh Cut Fries and Curbalicious. There is a great variety of fast-food restaurants including McDonald’s, A&W, Subway, Mucho Burrito, Starbucks, KFC & Tim Hortons.
Rideau River
The Rideau River is located about 6 minutes north of the town of Kemptville. This beautiful river offers an awesome boating experience as well as stunning homes & cottages with water views. Bring your boat and launch at one of the 2 boat launches near Kemptville and enjoy a day on the water! The Kemptville Creek flows out of the Rideau River right through downtown Kemptville. This creek offers waterfront living for a few Kemptville homes as well as access to the river by boat. You can also launch your boat from the Kemptville boat launch and head out for a day of fishing or boating!
Parks & Trails
Kemptville has an abundance of beautiful walking trails that you will love! Take a stroll along the Waterfront Trail and enjoy the sights and sounds of Kemptville Creek. Enjoy a picnic by the water at Curry Park. Brush up on your gardening at the Giving Garden where the members of the community plant, nurture and harvest vegetables from. Bring your dogs for a run at the Ferguson Forest Dog Park or enjoy a walk around the Ferguson Forest Centre Arboretum. If you are looking for a larger hike, check out the North Grenville Trails. A few awesome trails in this loop include the Maple Trail, Link Trail and Beech Trail.

This small town really does have everything you need. Wal Mart, Giant Tiger, Marks Work Warehouse, Beer Store, LCBO, Staples, Canadian Tire, Pet Valu, Dollarama, Independent Grocer, Peavy Mart, Food Basics, Anytime Fitness ad so much more! There are 4 elementary schools and 2 high schools for your children to attend, the Kemptville District Hospital, law offices, gas stations, a community centre, sporting fields, hiking trails, beautiful parks and so much more! If you do need something more, it is a short drive into Barrhaven or the city of Ottawa.
Kemptville Live Music Festival
Due to COVID-19, the Kemptville Live Music Festival has been cancelled for 2021, but the show will go on in 2022! This awesome music festival was created in 2013 and has had strong rock lineups over the last 7 years. A few big names that have played at the festival have included David Wilcox, Kim Mitchell, Steve Earle, George Thorogood, April Wine, Dwight Yoakam, Blue Rodeo and Jann Arden. The names that are set to hit the stage in 2022 include Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings, Glass Tiger and Honeymoon Suite. Great Sense of Community
Like most small towns in Ontario, Kemptville has a great sense of community. When you go to the grocery store, you are more likely to run into someone you know. People stop and say hello when walking by and your neighbours care about you. The community puts on events such as the annual Santa Clause Parade and the locals like to support each other. It is a slower pace living in a small town, and if you are coming from the city, it may take some getting used to. People aren’t as rushed and enjoy taking it slow.
