Ottawa's Most Luxurious Neighbourhoods
It’s no secret that Ottawa has a great deal of nice homes in luxurious neighbourhoods. The east end features the 8,000 square foot historic Rockcliffe Park homes. Manotick has the modern mansions of Rideau Forest. The Glebe boasts stately residential homes and condos. The luxury real estate market is not something that Ottawa is lacking.
Over the past 23 years there have been 2,685 sales over $1,000,000 in the National Capital Region with new numbers being added daily.
193 of those sales have been over $2,000,000. It’s hard to believe there were homes sold for over that much in Ottawa back in 1996, but it’s true!
34 have been over $3,000,000 and 6 over $4,000,000!
In this article we will go over the most expensive, high-class neighbourhoods in Ottawa.
Note: the neighbourhoods are ranked by amount of sales over $1,000,000, not highest sales.
You will know many of them, however, some may surprise you! Read on to find Ottawa’s most luxurious neighbourhoods.

#10 – Manotick Village & Manotick Estates
72 Sales over $1,000,000 / 1 Sale over $2,000,000
With 72 sales over $1,000,000 since 2003, Manotick Estates has featured posh homes for the past 16 years.
The highest sale sits just over $2 million
This neighbourhood is located just West of Long Island in Manotick. The borderlines are between Rideau Valley Drive, Century Road East, First Line Road and Prince of Wales Drive. Click for directions.
Number 10 on our luxurious neighbourhoods list is Manotick Village & Estates. These stately homes are suburban living at its best!
Featuring tons of amenities just a short drive away. Groceries, shopping and entertainment are located in the villages of Manotick and Barrhaven.
The location can’t be beat with easy access to the 416 highway. This neighbourhood is less than a half hour drive to downtown Ottawa.
You also have the Rideau River that runs through Manotick with some gorgeous waterfront homes.
In addition to the amenities, there are also lots of golf courses and green space in this area as well!
#9 – Greely

With 80 sales over $1,000,000 since 2008 and a recent sale at $2,000,000, Greely has been a notable Ottawa neighbourhood for the past 11 years.
The highest sale sits at exactly $2 million.
This neighbourhood is located between Old Prescott Road, as far south as Cedar Lakes Road, Manotick Station Road and Mitch Owens Road. Click for directions.

This suburban paradise is only a 30-minute drive to downtown Ottawa. Featuring lush landscaping and large lots, the homes in Greely are really something to talk about!
With plenty of golf clubs nearby, you can golf every night while enjoying the relaxing nature around you.
The town of Greely offers a grocery store, a little bit of shopping as well as some great restaurants! The town of Metcalfe is also nearby, so you can take your pick of which town to go to for dinner!
#8 – Westboro

With 82 sales over $1,000,000 since 2011, Westboro has been one of Ottawa’s most luxurious neighbourhoods for the past 8 years.
The highest sale sits just over $2.6 million.
This neighbourhood is located west of Island Park Drive, north of highway 417, east of Melbourne Avenue and south of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway. Click for directions.
With roughly 90% of the homes in Westboro being built after 2004, the homes in this neighbourhood are contemporary and stylish.
The detached and semi-detached styles make the homes in this neighbourhood quite diverse. With lots of trendy shops and restaurants in Westboro, it is very popular among the younger demographic.
Less than a 15 minute drive to downtown and only a short walk to Ottawa River walking paths, this location is beyond compare

#7 – Old Ottawa South / Rideau Gardens

With 83 sales over $1,000,000 since 2010, Old Ottawa South / Rideau Gardens have been one of Ottawa’s most luxurious neighbourhoods for the past 9 years.
The highest sale sits just over $2.7 million.
This neighbourhood is located west of Smyth Road, north of the Rideau River, east of Bronson Avenue and south of Colonel By Drive. Click for directions.
The mix of old and new homes in Old Ottawa South are really something to talk about.
Featuring historic 3-storey estates from the 1920’s. As well as modern mansions still in the process of being built. The assortment of abodes in this area are quite incredible!
With parks and walking paths next the Rideau River and a quick 10-minute drive to downtown, it’s hard to beat this location.
You are also only a short walk away from Carleton University. If your children are Carleton students, this location couldn’t be better!
#6 – Rothwell Heights

With 90 sales over $1,000,000 since 2003, Rothwell Heights has included some of Ottawa’s best homes for the past 16 years.
The highest sale sits just over $7.6 million, making this Ottawa’s highest selling neighbourhood.
This neighbourhood is located west of Rothwell Drive, north of Montreal Road, east of Blair Road, and south of Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway. Click for directions.
Rothwell Heights features stunning homes on immensely sized lots. You won’t have to worry about being too close to your neighbours here!
With a great location just east of the city, the drive to downtown is less than 20 minutes. The homes you will find in Rothwell Heights are similar to those of Beverly Hills.
Many of these estates were built less than 20 years ago, giving this neighbourhood a more modern feel.
This neighbourhood is built in a higher elevation, giving many of these homes a stunning overlooking view.
The Ottawa River is nearby and you can take long walks down by the water if you want to!
#5 – Manotick East to Manotick Station

With 113 sales over $1,000,000 since 2005, Manotick East to Manotick Station has featured amazing estates for the past 14 years.
The highest sale sits at $2.9 million.
This neighbourhood is located west of Manotick Station Road, north of Snake Island Road, east of the Rideau River, and south of Rideau Road. Click for directions.
Featuring some of Ottawa’s best waterfront properties along the Rideau River, as well as the modern estates in the Rideau Forest subdivision.
These stately homes were mostly built less than 40 years ago, giving this neighbourhood a bit of a modern vibe.
Featuring amazing water views, indoor pools and outdoor kitchens. These estates are something that a celebrity may feel at home in.
Additionally, this neighbourhood is less than a 40-minute drive to downtown. And includes all of the amenities in the villages of Manotick and Barrhaven.

#4 – Ottawa West

With 123 sales over $1,000,000 since 2010, Ottawa West has been an up and coming neighbourhood for the past 9 years.
The highest sale sits at $3 million.
This neighbourhood is located west of Holland Avenue, north of the 417 Highway, east of Island Park Drive and south of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway. Click for directions.
With a mixture of homes ranging from the 1920’s to brand new, the diversity of homes in Ottawa West is quite vast.
These homes are located in an ideal location with less than a 10 minute drive to downtown.
The LRT line has really caused the homes in this area to skyrocket in value over the past few years. This is also making this area more accessible and desirable to younger families working downtown.
37 of these million-dollar sales have been since January 2018. Talk about an up and coming neighbourhood!
This neighbourhood is adjacent to Westboro making all of the amenities available any time of the day!
#3 – McKellar / Highland Park
132 Sales over $1,000,000 / 4 Sales over $2,000,000
With 132 sales over $1,000,000 since 2008, McKellar Park has been one of Ottawa’s most luxurious neighbourhoods for the past 11 years.
The highest sale sits at just over $2.5 million.
This neighbourhood is located west of Churchill Avenue North, north of Dovercourt Avenue, east of Redwood Avenue and south of Richmond Road. Click for directions.
McKellar Park is an established neighbourhood yielding stately homes mainly built before the 2000s.
Some of the historic homes in this area date back to before the 1920s, while others are still in the process of being built.
The parklike setting and proximity to downtown makes this neighbourhood a very desirable place to live for families and older adults alike. With everything you need close by, you never need to leave!
The residences in this neighbourhood sit on larger lots and are less than a 20 minute drive to downtown.
#2 – The Glebe

With 240 sales over $1,000,0000 since 2001, The Glebe has been the second most luxurious places to live in Ottawa for the past 18 years.
The highest sale sits at just over $3.1 million.
The Glebe neighbourhood is located west and north of the Rideau Canal, east of Bronson Avenue and south of highway 417. With the added small portion that goes around Dow’s Lake south of Carling and west of Bronson Avenue. Click for directions.
This prestigious neighbourhood boasts magnificent vistas of the Rideau Canal and Dow’s Lake. Jutting from the canal are two small bodies of water. Patterson Creek and Brown’s Inlet, these areas are surrounded by parks and some of the cities most expensive homes.
The homes in The Glebe are much more historic than those in many of the other Ottawa neighbourhoods. Over 75% of the homes sold were built before year 2000. Many of them date all the way back to the 1920s and 30s. Some of these homes are owner-occupied family residences, while others have been subdivided into multiple rental apartments.
Just a quick 10 minute drive will place you downtown Ottawa, making The Glebe a prime location for Ottawa residents.

With 343 sales over $1,000,000 and 90 sales over $2,000,000 since 1996, no other neighbourhood really compares to the luxury lifestyle that Rockcliffe Park offers in Ottawa.

Rockcliffe Park is Ottawa’s most luxurious neighbourhood by far! These distinguished homes incorporate extensive square footage on manicured lots all contained within a beautiful, park-like setting. Some of the homes feature scenes of the Ottawa River, while others gaze across NCC Parkland.
The entire village is designated as a Heritage Conservation District and is one of only a handful of surviving 19th century communities of its kind in North America. Some of the homes in Rockcliffe Park date back to before the 1900’s. Many Embassies call this neighbourhood home.
Rockcliffe Park is like a city of its own with a private lake and private schools, all within a short 10 minute drive to downtown.
