2020 has certainly been an odd year for us all. Sadly, COVID-19 has put a damper on everything and now that Halloween has rolled around, many residents are trying to figure out how to navigate the day with their children. Though the Ottawa area is still offering safe and fun events such as Pumpkinferno and FrightFest, it can be hard to get tickets because they sell out quickly due to their limited amount. This is how they are able to keep their social distancing measures in place. If you are able to attain a ticket for these fun events, we hope you have a safe and fun time! By now we all know how to use Zoom! Why not utilize it for bringing your friends and their kids together to have a costume contest! Be sure to have prizes on hand for the best dressed. Runner-up prizes are always nice too! Get the adults involved and it’ll be fun for the whole family!
Telling spooky stories is already a fun activity, but a quick way to make it even better is to do it inside a fort! Grab the couch cushions and blankets and create a spooky fort in your living room. Have your kids create some spooky drawings or colouring books and hang your pictures on your front window for the people walking by. Just like we did with the rainbows and kind words during the lockdown! They are fun to create and fun to look at!
Who needs a fancy camera to take photos of your family! You can easily take photos right on your cell phone! Why not get fancy with the portrait mode and make them look even better! As for a backdrop, you can hang a sheet or curtains in the background. Paint your faces and put on your best costumes and break out the phone!

Hands down, this will be one of the strangest Halloween’s that we have ever had. It is unfortunate that we are unable to do the things we are used to doing with our families and friends. At least there are still fun things we can safely do with our families and we hope that you enjoyed our safe Halloween fun ideas!
