Why Should You Move to Stittsville?
Stittsville has become increasingly more popular over the years due to its convenient location, beautiful homes, friendly community and an abundance of shopping and restaurants. This growing city’s population currently sits at 41,350 with more people moving in daily! The town sits just west of Ottawa’s downtown core and is adjacent to the larger suburb of Kanata. This neighbourhood has basically everything you need! If you are looking for more shopping or entertainment, you can have it all by driving 5 minutes northwest towards Kanata or you can be downtown Ottawa within 25 minutes! Though Stittsville is a growing metropolis, it still has a small-town feel complete with a charming downtown area! Great Location
Stittsville is centrally located just west of Ottawa and southwest of Kanata. The area is surrounded by beautiful forests and farmland. You can get to downtown Ottawa within only 25 minutes, or to the many amenities of Kanata (like Costco!) within about 10 minutes. It is also about 10 minutes from Richmond and 20 minutes from Carleton Place. There is also easy access to both Highway 417 and Highway 7. This makes commuting and travelling very easy. If a convenient location is important to you, you are going to love Stittsville!
Retail
Stittsville has a surprisingly abundant amount of big box stores. A few notable stores include Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe’s, Michaels, Winners, HomeSense, Giant Tiger, Dollarama, LCBO and Home Hardware. You will also find lots of grocery stores including Farm Boy, Independent, No Frills and Food Basics. There are even a few car dealerships like Westend Automotive, Orr Motors and Open Roads RV. Stittsville Main Street also features a few charming boutiques such as The Little Red Spade, Pretty Pots Flower Shop, Outdoor Living, Classy Kids Wear and Re-Read Used Books. Stittsville has also acquired a few cannabis dispensaries over the last couple of years including Spiritleaf and the Recreational Marijuana store.
Tons of Greenspace
Another key point about Stittsville is its parks and greenspace to enjoy. A few beautiful parks include Poole Creek Park, Timbermere Park, Ladybird Park, Kittiwake Park, Bandmaster Park, Fringewood Park, Paul Lindsay Park, Sacred Heart Forest, Village Square Park, W.J Bell Rotary Peace Park and Wyldewood Park. If you enjoy a nice long walk, check out the Trans Canada Trail that passes right through Stittsville! Whenever you feel like a round of golf, be sure to check out Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club. This course is located basically in the middle of the town! Also, if you venture 10 minutes west of the town you will also come across the Stittsville Golf Course.
Things to do
Stittsville has some especially unique things to do! Check out Stittsville Shooting Ranges Inc and Delta Force Paintball to work on your aim. As mentioned above, there are a couple of golf courses so you can occasionally enjoy a round or two! Kanata also has a few if you get bored or want more variety! Bring the kids to the OZ dome where they can join a sporting league or rent the entire facility out for a party. Or, check out the Playvalue Toys with the kids where you will find a huge selection of Lego, puzzles, a huge selection of indoor toys, large outdoor toys and water toys! Brush up on your history at the Goulbourn Museum. You can also enjoy a spa day at Zenvy Spa or get your nails done at one of the many nail salons!
Schools
Stittsville has an abundance of schools, 11 to be exact! 6 elementary schools and 5 high schools. All of the elementary and high schools are rated 6.6 or higher according to the Fraser Institute. The following schools are in Stittsville: St. Stephen School, École secondaire catholique Paul-Desmarais, Stittsville Public School, Sacred Heart High School, A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary School, Holy Spirit Elementary School, Frederick Banting Alternative High School, Guardian Angels School, Westwind Public School and Ambassadors Christian School. If this isn’t enough selection for your children, you also have the option of sending your kids to a Kanata school instead!
Restaurants
You certainly won’t go hungry when you live in Stittsville! With tons of great eat-in options such as: The Keg, Cabotto’s Five Guys, The Glen Scottish Restaurant & Pub, NeXT, Pocopazzo, Amberwood Lounge & Eatery, The Royal Oak, Classic Shawarma, Hurley’s Grill, Main Street Pub, Thailicious, New Queen Restaurant and Main Street Cafe. If pizza is your thing, you can enjoy Milano, Jo-Jo’s Pizzeria, Willy’s Pizza, Papa Sam’s, Pizza Pizza and Gabriel’s. Stittsville also has a surprising amount of specialty food trucks including Bonita’s Cantina, San Jose Mexican Foods, Pong’s Poutine, Gio’s Italian Eatery, Smokin R&Rs Mobile food kitchen, Crave Tacos, Crispy Spring Roll, Chip Stop and Grampa Dan’s Tummy Stuffers. Perhaps desserts and cafes are what you’re into. Growing Community
Stittsville has a ton of new development. From new subdivisions with beautiful detached homes to smaller row townhomes. At the present time, there are 4 new neighbourhood being developed. Shea Village, Edenwylde, Westwood, Poole Creek Estates and Deer Run. Cardel, Valecraft, Tartan, Claridge, Richcraft and Patten are among the many development companies working on these communities. Two new public schools are also being added to the mix in Stittsville. There are many new development plans for the community. This includes a new 4-storey building on the rise as well as a tall 18-storey skyscraper residential building being proposed as well.
In conclusion, we think Stittsville is a great place to live! To summarize, this beautiful suburb has tons of character, great schools, awesome parkland, shops and restaurants along with basically everything else you may need. And it is all conveniently located only 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa.
