By car, you can be downtown Ottawa within 10 minutes making this the perfect place to live if being near the city is important to you. Why not stop in at Westboro Beach along the way! Westboro has an abundance of yoga studios including Pure Yoga, New Moon Yoga, Pathway Yoga, Yoga Collective Westboro and Iyengar Yoga Ottawa. If you are looking for festivals, Westboro has the annual FUSE Festival which includes a full weekend of food, fashion, live music and entertainment! Sadly, due to the pandemic, the FUSE Festival was not held in 2020 or 2021, but they are hoping to bring it back as soon as it is safe again!
Public Transportation
The OC Transpo routes in Westboro make it very easy to get to where you need to go in record time! Because Westboro is so central in the city of Ottawa, getting downtown by bus only takes a few minutes. You can also make it out to Kanata, Barrhaven or Orleans all by bus! By 2025, the O-Train West extension will be complete and Westboro will have its own LRT station as well, making commuting downtown even easier than it already is! There are also rideshare programs such as Uber and Lyft as well as Vrtucar. If you live here, you really don’t need to own your own vehicle!
Walking Score
The other great thing about Westboro is that everything you need is within walking distance. If you are looking to spend an evening out at a restaurant or pub, you can most likely walk back to your home afterwards! Or, if you want to pop over to the grocery store, you can do so by foot! Looking to spend a day scoping out the local retail shops? No problem! You can walk along Richmond Road from one end of Westboro to the other within 20 minutes! If you are feeling adventurous, you can continue your shopping spree along Wellington Street into Hintonburg! The city has done a great job with the planning of sidewalks and walking paths in Westboro with extra-large sidewalks and an abundance of paths, including the one that runs parallel to Byron Avenue, The Ottawa River Pathway, the path between Scott Street and the Transitway, and the serene pathways within Hampton Park.
Beautiful Scenery
Even though Westboro is part of a booming metropolis, there is still plenty of green space and natural scenery. Take the Ottawa River, for instance, the peaceful waterfront offers stunning sunset views over the water! You can enjoy a day at Westboro Beach under the sun and even go for a dip if you are feeling up for it! There are also lots of great parks you can enjoy including Iona Park, Hampton Park, Roy Duncan Park, Maplelawn Garden and Byron Linear Park.
